Hearing a GEVO horn coning as the bridge going down, it's the Iowa, but this one was an CBBI train from which day who knows as the Diamonds was replaced over the weekend which stopped all rail traffic expect the Metra Rock Island Trains which no linger have to cross the Diamonds.
Suprise it was IAIS 516 in it's 30th anniversary colors which caught us off guard railfanning at the station. The owner of the line west of here CSX RB dispatcher had gave Iowa a track warrant from Rockdale to past the bridge, in which it become Metra Rock Road Dispatcher Problems. Metra in return of which knew of it's coming, and no Metra trains conflicting lining him up to head for Blue Island as noticed by the signals at CP Richards went to a diverging clear for Iowa. An BNSF MoW worker told us that this train won't be going no where for a while. To make it more interesting, the crew told the dispatcher that they go illegal(Off Duty) in under an hour.
CSX RB was in talks to get an Iowa truck to have the conductor go to the end of the train to reverse back to rockdale, and the closest Iowa Crew base is in Blue Island 30+ mins. away, if not risking getting a speeding ticket, and spending a morning at traffic court.
As it was getting late Metra took away the signal since BNSF MoW would not clear the way, an Inbound Metra was approaching, and even if they did get the clearance to proceed. The crew would die on the Metra main before reaching Blue Island since they are limited only to 30mph because of no cab signals.
When I was leaving I asked the conductor how long before they went off duty, he said now under 30 mins. So by the Time I reached home the crew went Illegal.
What was intresting about this is that The Iowa Train was keeping the bridge down over the Des Planes River blocking Barge Traffic pissing off the Army Core, and the US Coast Guard, and probably both Iowa Interstate and CSX getting fined for the bridge being down for a long period of time. Metra, IAIS, and CSX pissed at BNSF(UP to a lesser) for blocking the diamonds. I bet some people received hell from this, and i wonder what the city of Joliet have to say about this.
Also to note there were IAIS, and CSX trains that were on sidings to come East backed up west of here in sidings, and east of here at Barr Yard with the CSX trains, and 3 Iowa west-bounders were sitting at Blue Island tat were suppose to come west.

Wow. What a series of blunders. It sounds like how the MTA works. Something happens, and they announce 10 different excuses, and they can't make up their minds as to how to get things rolling quickly.
